I’m off for a week of holiday come Wednesday, so if you have any problems you can comment them, email them (The email works again now, Streamline had some crazy errors today) and I’ll deal them when I get back, or if you head to the forum I’m sure a few of you can help [...]
It’s something I most definitely suffer from, how to add a visually pleasing finish to your game. Those little tips and tricks that made your game really stand out and lookin’ fine. So, I went and had a bit of a hunt for some resources that will help you to give your game that ‘touch’ [...]
Welcome to the first part of the second parts of the Avoiding game tutorial (Blimey, that’s a mouthful!) This tutorial will expand on the game you will have already made and will include lives, boundaries, coin pickups for score, improving the hittest on enemies, a new method of timing and general little tweaks. I’m still [...]
There are a few ways to create a timing system in Flash, and this is the way with less Actionscript that was used in the Create a Simple Avoiding Game tutorial, but several people have commented that they had trouble with it, so here’s a more in-depth tutorial on how to create a simple timer in Flash which can be used to keep a score, or advance levels, or whatever you need!
Time for a general updates post methinks!
The forum is looking better, more people are signing up and hanging around. It’s a good place to get answers to specific questions and feedback on projects you’re working on, go take a look!
I bought my new PC :) But I’m currently *ahem* not allowed on it… hence the [...]
Yep, it’s another old one. And another one from Foundation-Flash.com, make sure to check out their site!
Enjoy!
Here’s part 2 of Bart de Boer’s translation of Emanuele Feronato’s platform game creation tutorial into AS3. For part one, see here.
Click here to see what you will have by the end of this tutorial.
It’s all commented, and there’s a source to download at the end.
Today’s tutorial is on Actionscript 3, and it comes from Bart de Boer, who has written another tutorial for Emanuele Feronato which I’d suggest you check out too, you’ll find it here, and I’d say it’s a great starting point for learning AS3.
Now, I’m most definitely not the best person to ask about optimisation… I like things nice and jumbles where I want them whilst I’m working. Of course, when I’m done, and the thing lags like crazy I’ve hit a snag. So I asked the guys over at http://www.triquitips.com for some advice, and they certainly obliged!
